The Lifesaving Society AED Instructor course prepares candidates
to teach the Society's Automated External Defibrillation award.
Prerequisites:
Lifesaving Society First Aid
Instructor and Lifesaving Society AED and Advanced Instructor
certifications (need not be current). Do you have the prerequisites to take
this course?
Evaluation & certification: AED Instructor
Trainers (or First Aid Instructor Trainers who hold the Society's
Advanced First Aid Examiner status) teach, evaluate and certify AED
Instructor candidates. The Lifesaving Society deems its
certifications to be "current" for 24 months from the certification
date.
Course length: Approx. 6-9 hr. classroom
instruction.
Candidate recognition: Certification card.
Required reference material: First Aid
Award Guide, Canadian First Aid Manual and First
Aid Instructor CD.
Costs: In addition to the required reference
materials, a certification fee is payable to the Lifesaving
Society. Course organizers charge a fee to cover the costs of
running the course.
Recertification: Instructors remain current by
recertifying within 24 months of the last certification date.
Recertification is through the Society's professional development
credit
