Camp Kirk is a registered charity that provides residential programming for children who have learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, and high functioning autism. We offer a nurturing and non-competitive environment that emphasizes strengths and builds confidence. We provide a community experience that promotes strong mental health so that our campers can lead productive, meaningful and happy lives.
The Swim Instructor is responsible for overseeing all matters concerning the Camp Kirk swim program and pool. The following outlines the main job duties of the Head Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor:
Swim Program: planning and facilitating a fun and engaging recreational swim program that meets the needs of individual campers, as well as the whole group.
Lifeguarding: daily lifeguarding duties, as well as supervising and overseeing the team of lifeguards that supervise the pool during ‘free swims’.
Pool Maintenance: conducting daily maintenance to ensure that the pool is in a healthy and safe state for swimming [previous experience not required- training provided]
The Swim Instructor is part of the Program Staff team. In addition to their program areas, all program staff are involved with the planning and facilitation of all-camp activities in the evening. When available, program staff are assigned to provide extra support to either individual campers or cabin groups.
CONTRACT DETAILS + COMPENSATION
We are looking to fill the position immediately, and the contract date runs until August 27th. All staff members reside at camp and Room and Board is provided over and above the salary.
The compensation for first-year staff is $3240* ($2540 summer salary + $700 conditional compensation: $200 for submitting contract documents on time, $500 for completing summer season)
19 years of age by June 18th
National Lifeguard Certification + CPR and Standard First Aid certification
