We’re looking to grow our instructor team at Russell Aquatics with part-time and full-time instructors! The ideal candidate has an upbeat and friendly attitude at all times and is dedicated to creating strong relationships with students. At Russell Aquatics, we are committed to providing families with the best experience possible while teaching an essential life skill with a focus on safety and fun. Our team is passionate about the importance of swimming lessons and it’s important to us that families feel safe and welcome within our facility.

As an instructor, expectations would be as follows:
  • Learn and teach Russell Aquatics programs using proven methods
  • Create relationships with each student, remembering names and skills to be worked on
  • Maintain an Upbeat and Friendly Attitude at all Time
  • Work Cohesively with All Team Members
  • Be On Time and Present for all Scheduled Shifts
  • Check iClass app Prior to Each Shift for any class changes and/or makeups
  • Use Appropriate and job Related Communication While on Shift
  • Be in Uniform at all Times While on Shift (Bathing Suit and Appropriate Wet Shirt)
  • Keep Pool Deck Clean, Orderly and Safe Both On and After Shift
  • Clean pool decks at the end of each shift and ready them for next shifts
  • Set up the equipment needed prior to each shift
  • Know all levels of our swim program and adhere to them when teaching
  • Follow assigned Core Plans and lesson plans for the Session
  • Complete skill trees on iClass and provide comments and feedback accurately and professionally
  • Communicate student progress to Supervisor throughout the session
  • Correctly Teach Skills Applicable to the Individual Levels
  • Correct Unsafe or Inaccurate Behaviors as Needed
  • Inform Supervisor & Aquatic Manager of any additional training you see fit for both Instructors, Lead Instructor and/or Assistant Instructors
  • Exhibit Good Time Management Skills Throughout Class
  • Exhibit Compassion to Each Student
  • Complete All Training and Tests Within an Appropriate Time Frame
  • Find Proper Coverage for missed shifts
  • Assist Lead Instructor with Tasks if Class is not Present
  • Inform your supervisor of additional or new equipment that is needed
  • Attend all Staff Trainings


Required Qualifications

  • Lifesaving Society - Swim Instructor
  • Lifesaving Society - Lifesaving Instructor
  • Bronze Cross
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • National Lifeguard considered an asset and is preferred
