Job Description

Position Title: Site Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Paris, Ontario (On-site)
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Reports To: Vice President Operations

Overview:
Brave Waves Swim School seeks a dedicated and experienced Site Manager to oversee our state-of-the-art swim facility. This role involves managing staff, ensuring safety compliance, delivering swim instruction, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong background in sports recreation leadership, staff management, operations, and human resources, with aquatics leadership preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Staffing and Human Resources:

  • Working in concert with the ownership team, lead a team of ~60 instructors and deck leaders, as well as a front office team
  • Foster and enhance a positive, high-achieving team culture.
  • Lead and develop staff through mentoring, training, and development programs.
  • Create and manage staff schedules using platforms such as Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, iClassPro, and OneTeam360.
  • Ensure all staff credentials are current and valid.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and manage staff performance, conducting regular evaluations.
  • Develop and implement staff retention strategies and incentives.

2. Swim Instruction Delivery:

  • Oversee the delivery of swim instruction programs to ensure exceptional quality and consistency.
  • Work closely with the ownership team to develop and adapt swim programs to meet changing client and community needs.

3. Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety reviews and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety procedures and incidents.

4. Customer Satisfaction and Engagement:

  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve services.
  • Develop and implement customer engagement strategies.
  • Organize events and activities to enhance the customer experience.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and community members.

5. Facilities and Operations:

  • Efficient operations of Customer Engagement front office, including reception, merchandising, and in-store communications
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Manage operational budgets and resources effectively.
  • Hold qualifications for and fulfill the responsibilities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee Management Representative.

6. Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports, including Manager Stats, Drop Reports, and KPI reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour and Health and Safety regulations, Lifesaving Society, and Red Cross guidelines.
  • Complete all necessary license renewals for the facility.

Required Qualifications

Ideally National Lifeguard certification with leadership experience.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iClassPro, OneTeam360, and related platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and show initiative.
  • Aquatics experience preferred but not required.
  • Empathetic, with the ability to motivate, praise, and develop staff.
  • Management experience (minimum 3 years).
  • An ambassador of the Brave Waves Swim School culture and brand.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and develop as a leader.
  • Proven experience in facilities management, preferably in a sports and recreation environment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, with a requirement to be on-site two weekends per month.
