Job Description
PURPOSE
Provide strategic financial leadership to the Board while ensuring transparency, compliance, and long- term sustainability of the Lifesaving Society – Ontario.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the President of the Board of Directors, with updates delivered:
- Annually to the Annual General Meeting
- As required to the Board of Directors
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and annual audit
- Ensure timely filing of CRA public information returns
- Present financial updates to the Board and AGM
- Serve on the Investment Committee to help manage the Society’s investment plan and review portfolio performance
- Serve on the Staff Committee, which oversees the CEO’s role and Board–Staff relationship policies
- Uphold fiduciary duties and participate actively in Board meetings and strategic sessions
TERM
Two-year elected term, renewable
Required Qualifications
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Experience with non-profit governance and financial oversight
- Commitment to the Society’s mission and values
- Formal Governance Certification as a ICD.D or Chartered Director considered an asset
