Job Description
PURPOSE
Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight to the Board to enhance the mission of the Lifesaving Society – Ontario.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the President of the Board of Directors, with updates delivered:
- Annually to the Annual General Meeting
- As required to the Board of Directors
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the review and modernization of the Society’s governance structures, policies and processes.
- Coordinates the strategic planning process for the Board
- Ensures and presents risk management frameworks to the Board
- Upholds fiduciary duties and participate actively in Board meetings and strategic sessions
TERM
Two-year elected term, renewable
Required Qualifications
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Strong understanding of non-profit governance principles and best practices
- Experience with non-profit governance, board development and risk management oversight
- Commitment to the Society’s mission and values
- Formal Governance Certification as an ICD.D or Chartered Director considered an asset
