Job Description

We are looking for fun, enthusiastic instructors to join our team and teach our learn to swim program. Successful candidates will be required to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.



  • Know and Adhere to the Russell Aquatics Team Standards, Mission, and Motto
  • Maintain an Upbeat and Friendly Attitude at all Times
  • Work Cohesively with All Team Members
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service to Every Person who walks in the Door
  • Be On Time and Present for all Scheduled Shifts
  • Check Master List Prior to Each Shift
  • Know Each Student by Name
  • Use Appropriate and Job Related Communication While on Shift
  • Be in Uniform at all Times While on Shift (Bathing Suite and Appropriate Wet Shirt)
  • Keep Pool Deck Clean, Orderly and Safe Both On and After Shift
  • Clean pool decks at the end of each shift and ready them for next shifts
  • Set up the equipment needed prior to each shift
  • Know all levels of our swim program and adhere to them when teaching
  • Create Core Plans for the Session
  • Inform shift lead instructor of Students Progress
  • Give feedback to parents each shift as needed
  • Inform Lead Instructors & Move students from the class if necessary
  • Inform Clients of Upcoming Events Or Holidays
  • Correctly Teach Skills Applicable to the Individual Levels
  • Correct Unsafe or Inaccurate Behaviors as Needed
  • Mentor, Train and Direct Assistant Instructors
  • Inform Supervisor & Aquatic Manager of any additional training you see fit for both Instructors, Lead Instructor and/or Assistant Instructors
  • Exhibit Good Time Management Skills Throughout iClass
  • Exhibit Compassion to Each Student
  • Hand out ribbons to your students and celebrate your students successes
  • Complete All Training and Tests Within an Appropriate Time Frame
  • Assist Lead Instructor with Tasks if Class is not Present
  • Inform your supervisor of additional or new equipment that is needed
  • Attend all Staff Trainings


Required Qualifications

  • Bronze Cross
  • Standard First Aid, CPR C
  • Lifesaving Society and Swim instructor Certification
  • National Lifeguard an asset
  • 1 year experience preferred
