Full And Part-Time Lifeguard Positions

Each summer, the Grand River Conservation Areas welcomes visitors to enjoy camping, swimming, boating, tubing, fishing and hiking. We are looking for energetic and responsible certified lifeguards to join our team. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, work outside in an inspiring setting and gain valuable work experience. Reporting to the park superintendent, the lifeguards will be responsible for providing a clean and safe recreational area for guests.


Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that all safety and lifeguarding procedures are adhered to.
  2. Perform swim tests for children 9 years and younger to identify non-swimmers.
  3. Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, pool deck, surrounding area, washrooms and change
  4. Have proficient knowledge of emergency procedures and use of equipment.
  5. Provide assistance to all guests/staff and ensure their safety at all times.
  6. Enforce pool and park regulations.
  7. Complete the daily pool log sheet, including pre-opening checks, pool maintenance and scheduled water ch
  8. Responsible for reporting all incidents/accidents and concerns to the Park Superintendent or designate.
  9. Carry out all assigned duties in accordance with accepted safety practices of the Authority.
  10. Provide quality customer service.
  11. Maintain a thorough knowledge of park facilities and activities.
  12. Frequent sanitization of work areas and following GRCA’s COVID safe working policies.

Required Qualifications

  1. Must be currently enrolled as a full time student
  2. Current National Lifeguard Certification required.
  3. Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and problem solving skills.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Must possess Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  6. Familiar with the Grand River Conservation Authority and park policies.
  7. Ability to take initiative and work independently and within a team environment.
  8. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

Work Period: May to Labour Day 2022
Pay Rate: $17.25 per hour
Shift: Weekends, Day and Evening Shifts, Statutory Holidays

All successful applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available to work assigned shifts for the duration of the season. We offer comprehensive health and safety training.
