Starting Salary: $17.50/hour
Position Status: Full-Time with benefits and a complimentary YMCA membership
Placement: Immediate

Nature & Scope: The YMCA is seeking a full-time Head Lifeguard to work a variety of shifts. Hours of work will be based on the needs of the branch. Aquatic team members are responsible for the delivery of customer service excellence through member satisfaction and safety during recreational swims as well as instruction of both individual and group swimming lessons.

Responsibilities
• Primary responsibility is coverage of Lifeguard shifts;
• Experience in the usage of pool chemicals and cleaning supplies for water and deck equipment maintenance;
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to members and participants by ensuring that health and safety regulations and YMCA policies and procedures are upheld;
• Teach, guard and coach a variety of aquatic programs; • Maintain all relevant and required records;
• Develop lesson plans and administer progressive evaluations;
• Work with staff and volunteers assigned to aquatic area;
• Maintain and upgrade as required current qualifications and certifications;
• Attend scheduled training events;
• Help support the supervision of staff in the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor to ensure consistency in the water and on the deck
• Responsible for scheduling training and Aquatics Team Leader shifts during swim lessons
• Responsible for completing payroll in the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor
• Will have shifts as an Aquatics Team Leader during peak swim lesson times

Required Qualifications

• Standard First Aid & CPR C
• Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and/or YMCA Swim Instructor Certification
• WHMIS & AED is an asset
• Advanced Aquatics Instructor certifications (Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, Bronze Examiner, National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner, SFA Instructor/Examiner) is an asset
• Current police records check/vulnerable sector screening
• If you are hired, prior to your start date and as a condition of employment, you will be required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid Human Rights exemption.
