BOAT Instructor Trainers teach, evaluate and certify
BOAT Instructor candidates. BOAT ITs are experienced and
knowledgeable BOAT Instructors.
Prerequisites: Certification and
experience as a BOAT Instructor. Do you have the prerequisites?
BOAT IT candidates should have significant experience
teaching and examining the Society's BOAT course before applying
for BOAT IT status.
IT clinic: Attend a generic Instructor Trainer
clinic of approximately 10-14 hr. classroom and water
instruction.
Apprentice: Apprentice with an experienced BOAT
Instructor Trainer on at least 1 BOAT Instructor course. After
completion of apprenticeship, submit your completed BOAT IT
Training Record with the appointment fee to the Society's
office.
Required reference material: Instructor
Notes, BOAT Instructor Notes and CD, Notes for
Instructor Trainers, BOAT Study Guide,
BOAT IT Training Record.
Costs: In addition to the required
reference materials, an appointment fee is payable to the
Lifesaving Society and submitted with your Training Record.
Organizers will charge a fee to cover the cost of running the
Instructor Trainer clinic.
Recertification: Instructor
Trainers remain current by recertifying with 24 months of the
last certification date. Recertification is through the Lifesaving
