Job Description
The Lifesaving Society is a national volunteer organization and registered charity. We are a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We save lives and prevent water-related injury throughout training programs. Water Smart public education, drowning research, aquatic safety management and lifesaving sport.
The Lifesaving Society Ontario Branch invites applications for the volunteer position First Aid Services Chair on the Training Program Council.
Purpose
To provide leadership for the Lifesaving Society on first aid delivery in line with CSA Z1210-24 competencies, WSIB training criteria, and review of ILCOR updates.
Term of Reference
Appointed by the Board of Directors to the Training Program Council for a term of two years.
Reporting Relationship
To the Board of Directors as required.
To the Program Council as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Establish objectives and annual action plan for matters related to First Aid Services.
- Manage approved projects related to First Aid Services:
- Research and develop first aid services programs.
- Co-ordinate first aid content and standards for all Lifesaving Society programs.
- Promote increased use of first aid service programs.
- Chair the First Aid Services committee, including:
- Recruit and develop committee members as required.
- Assign responsibilities.
- Recognize volunteer committee members.
- Attend a minimum of two Training Program Council meetings per year and the AnnualGeneral meeting.
- Report to Training Program Council as scheduled on the status of established objectivesand action plan.
- Prepare an annual report on First Aid Services activities and accomplishments.
- Liaise with national and provincial counterparts.
Required Qualifications
- Must be an experienced first aid instructor and examiner in a variety of LifesavingSociety first aid programs.
- Trainer status would be considered an asset.
- Commitment to completing projects for the further development of Lifesaving Societyfirst aid programs.
- Strong organizational skills and work ethic.
- Ability to lead committees.
- Exceptional teamwork.
