We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced contract Bronze Cross and National Lifeguard Instructor to lead our 10-week Fall National Lifeguard course from September 26th to November 28th, running from 4pm-9pm every Thursday.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivering High-Quality Instruction: Conduct training sessions for the National Lifeguard program, adhering to the Lifesaving Society's updated guidelines. Ensure that candidates receive comprehensive and effective instruction to prepare them for lifeguard responsibilities.
- Ongoing Candidate Evaluation: Continuously assess and evaluate the progress of National Lifeguard Candidates during the course, offering constructive feedback and support to help them meet the program's requirements.
- Course Planning and Administrative Tasks: Prepare and organize the National Lifeguard course, including verifying candidate prerequisites, maintaining accurate records of progress, and completing necessary administrative paperwork.
- Adaptability in Instruction: Demonstrate the ability to adapt instruction based on the pool setting, especially when multiple programs are running simultaneously. Flexibility in catering to diverse candidate needs is essential.
- Effective Communication: Possess excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate lifeguarding principles and procedures clearly. Ensure all candidates understand safety protocols and rescue techniques.
- Professional Role Model: Exemplify positive and professional behaviour throughout the course, serving as a role model for both candidates and fellow staff members
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching the National Lifeguard and/or Bronze Cross is required
- Hold a valid National Lifeguard Instructor certification, demonstrating expertise in instructing lifeguarding techniques
- Maintain a valid National Lifeguard certification to demonstrate proficiency in lifeguard duties
- Possess a valid Standard First Aid certification to respond effectively to emergencies
- Current Standard First Aid Instructor certification considered an asset
