Job Description
Aqua-Tots Swim School Ottawa is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Aquatics Manager to help lead our aquatics team and ensure an exceptional experience for every child and family we serve.
Working alongside the Aquatics Manager, you will play a key leadership role in team member development, lesson quality, safety, and daily operations. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires someone who is passionate about teaching, mentoring team members, and creating a positive learning environment both in and out of the water.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of swim instructors and aquatic supervisors.
• Conduct regular evaluations and provide coaching to ensure consistent lesson quality and curriculum delivery.
• Assist with team member scheduling, performance management, and team accountability.
• Participate in interviews and hiring decisions for aquatics team members.
• Help plan and deliver team training sessions and quarterly in-services.
• Maintain a strong presence on the pool deck and teach a minimum of 8 hours of lessons per week.
• Assist with monitoring student progression and supporting families with curriculum-related questions.
• Support daily facility operations, including pool safety, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
• Complete operational reports, audits, and documentation as required.
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty when assigned, including opening and closing responsibilities and responding to operational challenges.

Required Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in aquatics, swim instruction, recreation, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable making decisions and addressing operational challenges.
• Passion for working with children and families.
• Flexible availability including evenings and weekends.
• Current National Lifeguard certification required.
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid required.
• Additional aquatic certifications considered an asset.
• Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
