The Lifesaving Society's Emergency First Aid Instructor Transition Course is designed for Emergency First Aid Instructors to become First Aid Instructors under the 2026 WSIB first aid program. This course provides Emergency First Aid Instructors with the knowledge and resources required to organize, plan, and deliver Lifesaving Society First Aid awards up to and including Intermediate First Aid.
Prerequisites: Minimum 18 years of age, Emergency First Aid Instructor, 2026 First Aid Update Course and Lifesaving Society Intermediate First Aid or Standard First Aid (need not be current) from the Society or another approved agency. There is also a mandatory pre-course assignment that will need to be completed before the course starts. This will be sent out upon registration.
Instruction and certification: Current First Aid Instructor Trainers who have completed the 2026 online First Aid Update Course teach and certify candidates.
Candidate recognition: Certification card.
Required references: First Aid Award Guide, Canadian First Aid Manual, Teaching First Aid Resource and the Instructor Manual.
Instructional format: This may be delivered through in-person learning only.

Instructional time: 8 hours of classroom instruction is the minimum required instructional time for up to 16 candidates in the course. Breaks are not included in the minimum instructional time. More instructional time may be required depending on course format, number of candidates and the learning activities selected. This checklist identifies the learning outcomes that you must achieve in order to be successful on the course.
Required equipment: Classroom supplies such as tables, chairs, flip chart paper, stand and markers, masking tape, A/V equipment. First Aid equipment as required for an Intermediate First Aid course as per the Equipment list.
Recertification: Not applicable.
Fees: The Lifesaving Society exam fee applies to successful and unsuccessful candidates alike.
